The
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, as part of the Department of
Homeland Security, is a civilian volunteer service organization,
open to all citizens of the United States who are seventeen years of
age or older, and do not have a felony conviction. The primary
purpose of the Auxiliary is to support the Coast Guard in all of its
missions except direct law enforcement and military actions.
Flotilla 10-05, is 102 members strong, provides safe boating
classes, courtesy vessel safety exams, and performs safety and
regatta patrols. We assist the Coast Guard from the City of
Wilmington, NC on the Cape Fear River to the Atlantic Ocean off Bald
Head Island and the South Brunswick Islands. Along the Atlantic
Intracoastal Waterway, from Snows Cut to the Little River Inlet. Our
Area of Responsibility also covers the Atlantic Ocean, from New
Inlet to the Little River Inlet in South Carolina. We volunteer our
time, talents, radios and boats in support of the United States
Coast Guard and you, the boating public, to be better mariners.
We
provide our members with training to sharpen their skills so they
will be prepared and responsive whenever called upon. Should there
be an interest in volunteering your time and talents, please make
arrangements to visit with us at one of our meetings. We welcome
your involvement and participation in our fellowship activities.
You
do not need a boat to join, just the desire to help and serve
others. Wear the uniform of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary
and be proud to serve your country.
